This help section should answer most questions you may have about GigLocator. We have split the page into 4 sections, signing up, your account, security and advertising. If your question is not listed below please send us a email here.



Signing up

I can't create an account.

If you are having trouble creating an account please send us an email describing how far into the account creation process you were able to complete as well as the error you received.



I’ve forgotten my password.

If you have forgotten your password click here and follow the instructions. You will need to enter the email address that we have on file for your account, and then we email your password to that address.



My confirmation email doesn’t arrive.

Please check your email spam or junk folder or filter and also check that you’re trying to log in from the correct email address. Please note that some emails may be blocked by your ISP (internet service provider). If you're still having trouble, please email us.



It says there is an existing account associated with my email address.

Please click here to request a new password for your account. If you are not the account owner and are attempting to sign up for an account, then please be aware that you can only sign up for one GigLocator account per email address. If you believe you are receiving this message in error then please send us an email.



Is GigLocator free?

Yes! Every feature and function you currently see on the site is free and will always remain free. GigLocator is supported solely by advertising and ticket sales.




Your account

I can't log in to my account.

Firstly please make sure that you are logging in with the correct password and username and we also recommend clearing your browser's cookies and temporary Internet files and then try logging in again.

If you have already tried the methods above, check to make sure your profile still exists by searching for your profile on the site. If you cannot find your profile, it may have been deleted. GigLocator may delete profiles if they violate the site's terms and conditions. You cannot retrieve a deleted account. Please email us if your still having trouble.



How do I change my email address?

To change your email address, click the "settings and privacy" link on the top navigation menu on your profile. Once there, type in the new email address you want to use and click on "save".



How do I change my password?

To change your password, click the "settings and privacy" link on the top navigation menu on your profile. Once there enter your old password, your new password, confirm your new password and click “save”. You can now log in using your new password.



How do I delete my account?

If you wish to permanently terminate your GigLocator account, click the "settings and privacy" link on the top navigation menu on your profile. Once there, click the "Cancel Account" link and confirm your decision.

Please note that cancelling your GigLocator account will permanently remove all of your profile information from GigLocator, including your photographs, comments, and your personal network of friends. This information cannot be restored. You may re-register with your current email address after cancelling, but you will need to rebuild your personal network from scratch.



How do I change / add my profile picture?

To change or add a profile picture you can either click your profile photo or click the "settings and privacy" link on the top navigation menu on your profile.



I'm trying to upload an image, and I am getting an error message.

First, make sure the image you are attempting to upload is in one of the formats Giglocator accepts (.gif, .jpg). Next, make sure the filename is simple and short, with no spaces or funny characters. "example.jpg" is a good filename. We do not allow images over 3mb. If none of these tips help, it's possible that the image is corrupted.

Don't worry there is an easy solution. If you have a PC download a copy of IrfanView if your using a MAC download GraphicConverter. These programs are both free and you can use it to resize images so they're less than 3mb, or re-save images that may be corrupted.



How do I add a friend?

To add a friend, just use the GigLocator friend search by clicking on friends on the top navigation to find people you know and then click on the "Add as Friend" button. A friend request will be sent to that person. Once they confirm that they actually are friends with you, they will show up on your friends list.



How do I track an artist?

To track an artist simply click the "track this artist" button on the artist profile page under the artist photo. You can also use the MAC and PC applications to automatically add your artists from your music libraries, or add them manually on the tracking page.



I accidentally sent out a friend invitation. Is there anything I can do?

Unfortunately, there is no way to "take back" an invitation once it has been sent.



I’m not receiving email notifications.

Please make sure you have not adjusted your email notification settings by clicking on the "settings and privacy" link on the top navigation menu on your profile. Also check your spam/junk email filter to ensure that emails coming from GigLocator have not been incorrectly placed in this folder.

If you are still not receiving emails from GigLocator, please contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to ensure that they are not blocking email traffic coming from GigLocator.

If you've completed all steps above, please send us a email.



I keep receiving notifications I don’t want, what can I do?

To control what email notifications GigLocator sends to you, simply click on the "settings and privacy" link on the top navigation menu on your profile.



How do I send someone a message?

Sending messages to other people on GigLocator is easy. You can choose to send a message while viewing someone's profile by selecting the "Send a Message" button under his or her profile picture. This option is also available from the friend search results screen. You can also select "Compose" from your messages page, and type in the name of friends you would like to message. Just type a subject and a message and click "send." The person you send the message to will be notified by email and also the next time they log in.



Security

Messages or posts were sent from my account, and I didn’t send them.

It is possible that someone has gained access to your account. To reset your password click on the "settings and privacy" link on the top navigation menu on your profile. Be sure that you use a complex string of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length.

If you are unable to access your profile, please send us a email with more information regarding the issue so we can investigate.



Does GigLocator distribute my user information?

GigLocator respects your privacy. We don't distribute your user information to marketers or spammers. You can read more about this in our privacy policy.



How do I report abuse?

Giglocator encourages all users to use the "Report" links when they find abusive content. In most cases, you will find a "Report" link below the piece of content. GigLocator investigates these reports and makes a determination as to whether or not the content should stay up. All abuse reports on Giglocator are confidential.

If you have witnessed abuse on the site that you are unable to report using these links, please tell email us here.



What happens when I report someone?

All abuse reports on GigLocator are confidential. The user that you are reporting will not know that you have reported them. After the report is submitted, GigLocator investigates the issue and makes a determination as to whether or not the content should stay up.

In certain situations, the circumstances necessitate more severe action. Users who repeatedly violate our terms of service can be permanently banned from the site.
